- Squeeze Her Hand: A New Docu-Musical(44:55) The Muhlenberg College workshop of Squeeze Her Hand, a new docu-musical written by Will Howitt '23, took place on March 4 and 5, 2022, with a filming on March 6 that was produced by Jonathan Schlegel and Jeff Yorgey. The program can be found here, made by Marin Diddams '21 with key art by Jonathan Fleming '20https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dWM7...Squeeze Her Hand” is a collection of recorded interview excerpts and original music that investigates the concepts of grief, commemoration, isolation, and loss during the COVID pandemic. Based on a true story, the narrative follows a household as they explore the love and subsequent loss of their Bubbe, an important figure to each member of the family for her various roles as a mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother. Real and deeply personal interview excerpts from the group ground the music in reality, and within the impossibility of connection during the time of the virus and quarantine."Singers worked with professors Brian Chu and Vincent Trovato for approximately 45 minutes each week over six weeks total. Finale rehearsals were led by Abigail Sherman ‘22 and Lily Arovas '23. The cast consisted of Amanda Berkson ‘23, Will Howitt ‘23, Joe Grisanzio ‘23, and Nicole Gardner ‘23. Directed by the composer/lyricist.
- The International Crisis in Ukraine: How and Why it Matters(1:35:40) This March 1 panel discussed the current political state of affairs in Eastern Europe in a virtual panel. Lauren Anderson '79 joined the panel to offer her own insight into national and global security. She currently serves as a non-resident fellow with the Geneva Centre for Security Policy and as an advisor and special skilled role player for the U.S. military. Faculty panelists included Mohsin Hashim, professor of political science and director of the Russian studies program; Brian Mello, professor of political science and director of the Muhlenberg College Center for Ethics; and Julie Shoults, visiting lecturer in German studies and women’s & gender studies.
