The Muhlenberg women's basketball team outscored Eastern 36-12 in the second half to pull away for a 62-36 win in its home opener.

The win was the fourth straight for the Mules (4-1), who held the Eagles (0-5) under 15-percent shooting in the second half.

Freshman Veronica Dawson led Muhlenberg with 16 points and 9 rebounds in her home debut. Junior Katie McGrath added 12 points, and senior Emily Unger finished with 11.

The Mules trailed by as many as six point in the second quarter but came back to take a 26-24 lead at the break on a three-pointer by junior Mia Fitzgerald in the final 30 seconds of the half.

Muhlenberg opened the second half by holding Eastern to one field goal in the first 5:30, going on a 12-2 run to take a 38-26 lead on a layup by freshman Erin Punter.

After the Eagles made their second field goal of the quarter, the Mules ran off the next five points, four by Dawson, to extend the lead to 15.

A 10-0 run at the start of the fourth quarter, capped by three-pointers from sophomore Faith Tucker and McGrath, ran the margin to 25.

Tucker finished with 9 points, while Punter (pictured above) pulled down 7 rebounds.

All four of Muhlenberg's wins in its current streak have come by at least 15 points. It's the first time the Mules have won four in a row by that margin since 2016.
