Men's Basketball Completes Opening Weekend
The Muhlenberg men's basketball team completed its season-opening trip to New York with an 82-64 loss to Rochester.
The Mules led 17-13 a little more than five minutes into the game before going on a long scoring drought. By the time they made their next field goal, the Yellowjackets, who have been to the NCAA Tournament two of the last three years, had a 16-point advantage. Muhlenberg never got closer than 13 points the rest of the way.
Sophomore Gavin D'Iorio led the Mules with a career-high 11 points. In two games this season, D'Iorio (pictured above) has scored 17 points, two more than he netted all last year.
Freshman Arinze Achufusi hit double figures for the first time, scoring 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting, and senior Charlie Gillikin finished with 9 points and 6 rebounds. Junior Matt Lee netted 6 points on a pair of late threes.
Senior Giovanni Rubino was named to the Chuck Resler Tournament all-tournament team.
