Women's Wrestling Wins Two in First Dual
The Muhlenberg women's wrestling team broke more new ground by traveling across Allentown to wrestle Cedar Crest in its first dual match ever.
The Falcons, who are in their third year as a varsity program, won three weight classes on forfeits in the first women's wrestling clash between two Lehigh Valley collegiate teams.
Muhlenberg won two of the six contested bouts and came close in a third.
Senior Penelope Schneider got the Mules on the board at 145 by scoring takedowns in the final minute of each period to win by decision, 5-0.
The next bout was a match between regionally ranked 160-pounders, with freshman Kelsey Gelb, ranked seventh in Region 2, taking on a Cedar Crest opponent who is ranked eighth. Gelb (pictured above) ended it quickly, taking her opponent down to her back and pinning her in 31 seconds - the first pin in under a minute in program history.
In the final bout, freshman Margaret Williams recorded a pair of takedowns in her collegiate debut and held a 5-4 lead in the second period before getting pinned.
