Women's Lacrosse Ties Best Start
The Muhlenberg women's lacrosse team matched the best start in program history, improving to 7-0 with an 18-8 win at Lycoming.
The Mules won their first seven games one time previously, in 2016, when they went on to win the ECAC Mid-Atlantic championship. Combined with their two wins to close out the 2022 season, the Mules also broke the school record for longest winning streak.
The longest winning streak in one season is eight games, in 2017. This year's squad will get a chance to match that mark when it opens Centennial Conference play at seventh-ranked Franklin & Marshall on Saturday.
As it has of late, Muhlenberg put the game out of reach early. After the Warriors (2-3) scored the first goal, the Mules reeled off the next nine and led 13-3 at the half. Their margin of victory in the last five games is 14.6 goals.
Eight different players scored goals for Muhlenberg, led by senior Samantha Eynon with 5. She also recorded a pair of assists to tie her career high of 7 points. Senior Emily Gaffney and junior Nicole Steiner netted 3 goals apiece, with Steiner recording her sixth hat trick of the season.
Junior Lily Seifert tied her career high for the second time this season with 6 points on 2 goals and 4 assists, becoming the 13th player in program history with 50 career assists.
Sophomores Jillian Kubikowski (6), Emily Vaughan (5) and Rebecca Himelfarb (4) combined for 15 draw controls, helping Muhlenberg to a 19-9 advantage on draws.
