Fenstermaker Named Player of the Week
Muhlenberg senior Connor Fenstermaker was named Centennial Conference special teams player of the week.
Fenstermaker was the hero of the Mules' 24-23 win at Franklin & Marshall, booting a game-winning 29-yard field goal as time expired. He also made all three of his extra points.
Fenstermaker's field goal was the first of its type in 40 years. Muhlenberg had two walkoff field goals in 2018, but both came with the score tied. The last time the Mules kicked a field goal on the final play of the game when a miss would have resulted in a loss was in 1984, also against Franklin & Marshall, when Tom Mulroy connected on a 26-yarder on the final play for a 20-19 win.
The closest Muhlenberg came to a similar field goal since then was in 2015 at Ursinus, when Casey Fosbenner made a 41-yard field goal with 2.6 seconds left to give the Mules a 10-9 lead and the game ended on the ensuing kickoff.
For the season, Fenstermaker is 31-for-33 on extra points and 2-for-3 on field goals for the Mules, who are 6-3 heading into next Saturday's regular-season finale at home against Montclair State.
