The Muhlenberg men's basketball team shot 58 percent in the second half to break away from a close game and defeat Neumann, 76-58, for its second straight win.

Senior Giovanni Rubino led four players in double figures with 20 points. Sophomore Elias Sherman-Murphy had the best game of his career, pouring in 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting in only 19 minutes.

Senior Luke Gordos dropped in 15 points and freshman Arinze Achufusi added a career-best 12.

The back-and-forth first half featured 10 ties, the last at 29-all with 1:31 left on the clock. A fadeaway jumper in the lane by Rubino (pictured above) gave the Mules (2-2) the lead for good, and Achufusi beat the buzzer with a three from the corner to make it 34-29 at the half.

The previously undefeated Knights (3-1) made the first basket of the second half, but three points was as close as they would get. A three-point putback by Achufusi put Muhlenberg ahead by double digits for the first time, 49-13 with just over 11 minutes remaining.

It was 55-46 with eight minutes to play before the Mules put the game away with a 13-0 run in which Rubino made a three, recorded a traditional three-point play, assisted Gordos on a three and Sherman-Murphy on a layup and even blocked a shot.

Muhlenberg held Neumann to 31.8-percent shooting for the game and just 25.8 percent in the second half.
