Men's Lacrosse Finishes with Best CC Record

The Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team closed out Centennial Conference play with an 11-4 home win against Franklin & Marshall on Senior Day.

The Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team closed out Centennial Conference play with an 11-4 home win against Franklin & Marshall on Senior Day.

The win was the sixth straight for the Mules (9-7 overall) and gave them a final CC record of 6-2 - their best ever, topping their 5-3 finishes in 2008, 2022 and 2023. Muhlenberg is the third seed in the CC playoffs and will play a semifinal game at Dickinson on Thursday, May 2.

In avenging the playoff loss that ended their season last year, the Mules held the Diplomats (6-10, 0-7) under five goals for the first time ever. Muhlenberg did not allow a goal in the first 18 minutes and didn't give up its second goal until 3:05 remained in the third quarter.

Senior Stephen Krug made 14 saves, one off of his career high, while allowing only three goals in 52 minutes. Junior defensive middie Matthew Hochegger led the defense with 4 caused turnovers and 7 ground balls, while freshman longstick Michael Chimics caused a pair of turnovers.

Junior Brendan Lavarra added to his school record for caused turnovers in a season with his 33rd.

Nine different players scored Muhlenberg's 11 goals, led by two apiece for freshman Jack Bill and Liam Ledwith and highlighted by the first career goal for sophomore Michael Drago, just seven seconds into the second half. Bill's two goals give him 39 for the season, just two short of the school record.

Prior to the game, the Mules honored their senior class of (pictured left to right above) Jack Quinn, Ryan May, Krug, Matthew Regan, Jack Taub, Wyatt Malia, Brandon Caslow, Aidan Murphy and Matthew McDonald.
