Track & Field Enjoys Warm Weather
The Muhlenberg track and field teams competed in nice weather for the first time all spring, and the results reflect the weather.
At Moravian's Coach Pollard Invitational, the Mules combined for 26 new or improved Centennial Conference qualifiers, eight regional qualifiers and seven all-time top 10 performances.
The highlight of the meet was graduate student John Reichenbach clearing 6-10½ in the high jump, breaking the school record and tying the CC record that had stood unmatched since 1997. That tied the best mark in Division III this season entering the weekend. Reichenbach also posted a regional-qualifying mark in the long jump.
Also winning an event with a regional-qualifying mark was senior Noel House in the javelin.
Freshman Maya Richwine was the top placer for the women, coming in second in the 110 hurdles in 14.83, the second-fastest time in program history.
Other regional qualifiers were freshmen David Seel in the 800 and Maxwell Broadbent in the triple jump, the men's 4x100-meter relay team and senior Dylan DeMagistris in the hammer.
Junior Joshua Castro posted the fifth-best 400 time in program history and was a member of the 4x100 team along with freshman Isaac Schaffer-Neitz (pictured above right), who lowered his outdoor personal best in the 100 from 11.54 to 11.36.
Sophomore Jem Berney (pictured above left) ran the seventh-fastest 10,000 meters in program history.
Freshman Maya Richwine placed 2nd in the women's hurdles with the second fastest time in school history and Jem Berney placed 3rd in the 10000 with the 7th fastest time in school history.
