Men's Tennis Improves to 4-0

The Muhlenberg men's tennis team wrapped up its fall season with an 8-1 home win against Penn State Berks.

The Muhlenberg men's tennis team wrapped up its fall season with an 8-1 home win against Penn State Berks.

The Mules will enter the spring with a perfect 4-0 record, having won all their matches 8-1 or 9-0. They started 4-0 seven times previously, most recently in the fall of 2019, but never in their 104-year history had they won their first four matches so decisively.

Nine different players contributed to the latest win, with freshman Syver-August Meyer winning at both doubles and singles. Meyer engineered a pair of comebacks, rebounding from a 3-0 deficit at No. 1 doubles to post an 8-5 win with his brother, Sebastian Meyer, and then winning in three sets at No. 1 singles after falling in the first.

Freshman Connor Michael recorded his first career win, teaming with senior Josh Benson for an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Freshman Owen Dyer was impressive in a 6-1, 6-1 No. 2 singles win, while classmates Harrison Neff and Josh Simon won close singles matches, both in straight sets.

Sophomore Gabriel Tamarkin and junior Noah Katz (pictured above) dropped a total of three games in their singles wins.
