Muhlenberg's student-athletes, coaches and fans look forward to a more traditional year of athletics beginning this fall following the Centennial Conference announcement on competition:

The Centennial Conference is pleased to announce that, under the current circumstances, we anticipate a regular schedule of athletic competition and championships for academic year 2021-22. With guidance from the Centers for Disease Control, the NCAA Sports Science Institute and the American College Health Association, the Conference and individual member schools are preparing protocols focused on the health, safety and well being of our student-athletes, coaches, spectators, officials and campus communities. These protocols may be subject to change as external and internal circumstances evolve.

We recognize the challenges experienced by many over the past year; the Centennial Conference is excited to move forward with optimism as we look forward to a full return to competition!

The Mules' fall and winter teams had their competitive seasons cancelled last academic year, with the spring teams playing abridged seasons, primarily against other Centennial Conference institutions. The announcement opens the door for Mule teams to play complete seasons.

"I hope our coaches, staff and student-athletes can look back on last year and recognize their hard work, adaptability and commitment to each other strengthened our Mules community," said Director of Athletics Lynn Tubman. "We are excited to be preparing for a full return to competition this fall, and we will be back stronger than ever! Go Mules!"

Muhlenberg's athletic competition for 2021-22 is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 1, with contests for the men's soccer (home vs. Juniata), field hockey (home vs. Scranton) and women's soccer (at Clarks Summit) teams. The Mules' remaining fall sports (cross country, volleyball and football) are slated to open up that weekend.

The teams that will be returning to action during the fall semester include:

  • Football, which went 13-1 and reached the Division III semifinals in 2019
  • Men's soccer, which won the 2019 ECAC championship
  • Women's soccer, which reached the ECAC semifinals in 2019
  • Cross country, which has qualified a runner for the Division III championships each of the last 15 seasons
  • Men's basketball, which won 19 games in 2019-20 and took top-ranked Swarthmore to the final buzzer in a CC semifinal game
  • Wrestling, which won the CC dual-meet title and qualified three athletes for the 2020 NCAA Championships

Full schedules for the fall sports teams are posted at muhlenbergsports.com, and the winter sports schedules will be posted soon.
