Cross Country Finishes at Regionals
The Muhlenberg cross country teams wrapped up their seasons at the NCAA Metro Regional.
The men finished in the top half for the second straight season, coming in 13th out of 26 teams. The women placed 16th.
Of the 10 Mules who ran on the same course at Stockton's Osprey Open two months ago, nine posted better times at the regional meet.
The women especially showed great improvement, with senior Ellen Maguire (pictured above left) lowering her time by nearly two full minutes from 27:40.9 to 25:41.7, a personal best. Junior Julia Tassone also knocked off almost two minutes, improving from 27:36.4 to a personal-best 25:46.7.
Junior Jem Berney was Muhlenberg's top finisher, coming in 64th overall. Senior Hadley DeVarennes was the Mules' second runner, followed by Maguire, Tassone and sophomore Maggie Holderith.
Sophomore Marc Sebastian Montalvo led the Muhlenberg men, coming in 47th out of 186 runners with a personal-best time of 26:28.8. The Mules' second and third finishers, junior Andrew Smolowitz and sophomore David Seel, also posted personal bests.
Senior Markus Vottero ran a season-best time, and sophomore TJ Cook Jr. (pictured above right) rounded out the top five.
