- PSY 483: Special Topic: Research in the Psychology of Masculinity

In this seminar, students will conduct research individually or in small groups on a topic of their choosing related to the topic of masculinity. The seminar begins with a broad overview of the many theoretical approaches to gender and sexuality with specific discussions to understand current issues, including but not limited to such topics as toxic masculinity, barriers for mens treatmentseeking for mental health, and the social consequences of the understanding of men and masculinity for society in general. All students will be expected to read primary sources and to write reflectively each week as well as write a final empirical paper based on a research study or a comprehensive literature review.
