Women's Basketball Ends on Winning Note
The Muhlenberg women's basketball team closed out its 2023-24 season with a 66-42 home win vs. Bryn Mawr.
The Mules (14-11, 9-11), who were eliminated from playoff contention last Saturday, never trailed in defeating the Owls (2-22, 0-19) for the 53rd straight time.
Junior Emily Unger poured in 15 points in just 13 minutes off the bench to lead a balanced attack that saw all 12 players score points. Unger scored 13 straight Muhlenberg points in a span of a little more than three minutes at the end of the third quarter.
Junior Ava Connolly added 11 points and 7 rebounds.
Senior Caroline Horst made some unusual statistical history in the final game of her career. She finished with 4 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and a block to end the season as the team leader in both assists (69) and blocks (21). She is the first Mule player to lead her team in both assists and blocked shots since the 1999-2000 season, and the first to lead her team in assists without making a three-pointer since the 1991-92 season.
Junior Jenna Stockfeder, who is graduating in three years, closed out her career with 8 points and 8 rebounds, while senior Abigail Scheidel (pictured above) had 3 points and a pair of offensive rebounds.
