Field Hockey Cruises to Fifth Straight
The Muhlenberg field hockey team scored in each quarter in shutting out Vassar, 5-0, in its final tuneup before Centennial Conference play.
The win was the fifth straight for the Mules (5-2), who in the five games have outscored their opponents 21-1 and outshot them 95-12.
Juniors Erin DiSandro and Abba Diglio combined for all five of the goals, with DiSandro netting three for her first career hat trick and the first hat trick by a Muhlenberg player since 2016. She converted a penalty stroke in the second quarter and passes from freshman Danielle Kapsak in the third and senior Mikayla DeMichele in the fourth.
The six points gave DiSandro 62 for her career, moving her into a tie for 12th place on the Mules' all-time list.
Diglio started the game with 62, and her two goals, one off a pass from Kapsak (pictured above) pushed her total to 66, good for 10th all-time. The multiple-goal game was her third in the last four.
Senior Grace Leard returned from injury to play the entire second half, making a save on the only shot on goal by the Brewers (2-5).
Muhlenberg's five-game winning streak is its longest since the 2018 team won its final six regular-season contests.
