Field Hockey Names Four Captains
Four experienced players were named captains of the 2024 Muhlenberg field hockey team.
Senior Mikayla DeMichele, juniors Erin DiSandro and Greta Marchildon and senior Devon Eastlack (pictured left to right above) will lead the Mules, who are scheduled to play their home opener on Saturday against Moravian.
DeMichele started every game for Muhlenberg in both 2022 and 2023 and has played in all but one of the team's games since the start of her career. She tied for the team lead with three defensive saves as a junior and entered her senior season with a career total of five points on two goals and an assist.
DiSandro had a breakout season in 2023, earning a spot on the All-Centennial Conference first team and all-region second team after leading the CC with 31 points on 11 goals and a CC-leading 9 assists. She became only the second Mule to lead the CC in points, the first since 2016, and the first Mule sophomore to earn all-region recognition in field hockey since 2014.
Marchildon has been a stalwart on the Muhlenberg back line, starting all but one game in her first two seasons with the Mules. She was part of a defense that allowed the fourth-fewest goals in the CC in 2022 and allowed only six goals over the final six games of the 2023 season.
Eastlack enjoyed her best season as a junior, starting all 17 games and finishing third on the team in scoring with 10 points on 3 goals and 4 assists after recording only two points in her first two years combined. Including the first two games of 2024, she has played in 45 career games, with 32 starts.
